Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I am fascinated by unique birds such as the King Vulture, and loved the challenge of sculpting the face of one of these incredible birds. This one-of-a-kind sculpture wall hanging would make an amazing addition to the art collection of the bird watcher who appreciates the unusual.

I sculpted this vulture from Super Sculpey polymer clay. It was made without the use of molds. After sculpting, I hand paint each piece with acrylics. To ensure a long lasting finish and enhance the luster of the paints, the piece is coated with a water-based sealant. I painted the fronts and sides of the panel with a satin finish interior paint. These cradled panels are very easy to hang as the edge fits nicely over nails or hooks.

Facts about the King Vulture (Sarcorampas papa): Found in Central and South America, popular figures in the Mayan culture; largest of the New World vultures growing up to 32 inches long; it lacks eyelashes and has the strongest bill of the New World Vultures.
